Introduction to Botanical Art: create your own watercolour
December 6 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm£30.00
The workshop begins with a 30 minute tour of the exhibition of works by the 19th Century botanist Margaret Rebecca Dickinson upstairs in the Granary Gallery. Following this Rachel will introduce the day over coffee, which can be purchased from the YHA cafe on the ground floor. The rest of the day will be devoted to working on your own painting under the guidance and tuition of Rachel, using pencil and watercolour. Students will discover different types of pencils, brushes, ink and paper traditionally used in botanical art and also learn about water colour pigments and how to identify and mix colour.
We will break for lunch from 12.30 till 1pm, and you can bring a packed lunch or purchase it from the cafe. The workshop will end at 3pm.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and more experienced students seeking to widen their skills. There are 10 places available.
You are encouraged to bring a plant of your choice, but our tutor will have spares for those who don’t.
