For those of you looking forward to Jennifer Coates’ talk on the Golden Age of Japanese Cinema, MUBI are currently showing Oshima’s film Cruel Story of Youth. Released in 1960, the same year as Breathless, it has some striking similarities with Godard’s film.
This Wednesday sees the start of our three-part series Chants: Ancient and Modern. Mike Worboys will look at how this ancient form of music-making has evolved over time and in different cultures.
