BEA is ten years old!

We are celebrating our tenth birthday in 2024, and we would like to thank everybody who has supported us over the years. To celebrate, we sponsored a lecture on LS Lowry at The Maltings by renowned art historian, Jonathan Horwich on May 26th for the launch of the Granary Gallery’s new exhibition, Lowry and the Sea

We are delighted to welcome Dr. June Neilson as a Trustee of BEA. June has given talks for BEA on a variety of subjects, from Ancient Rome to the history of the EU, and we look forward to working with her.

Berwick Educational Association is a registered charity which promotes education of people in Berwick-upon-Tweed and surrounding areas. We provide short courses and other educational activities for people living in Berwick, Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Courses are run in both a classroom setting and via Zoom.

We are a warm and welcoming bunch, so please get in touch if you are new to the Berwick area, or just drop in to one of our lectures. All are welcome. Our courses cover a wide range of topics ranging from Art and Culture to Music and Science and our lectures are given by lecturers who are all highly qualified and experienced in their fields and often working in academia.  You can find out more about our current lectures from the event calendar on this page. We would also like to recruit some additional trustees to take us into our second decade; you will find more information here.

All our classrooms have full disabled access.
