The talk will provide a general introduction to the philosophical cinema of Austrian director, Michael Haneke, with a focus on his enigmatic and much discussed film, Caché (Hidden, 2005). We will unpick and discuss the formal strategies used by the director to explore societal and moral issues and engage film audiences in active and reflective viewing. The film, and others by the same director, are available for streaming on BFI Player and Amazon Prime.
