This standalone workshop will be led by Rachel Sutherland SSBA. To find out more about Rachel please visit her website http://www.rachelsutherlandpaintings.com
We will examine Redpath’s point of perspective to see how she composes her still lives. Using her technique and style, and inspired by her colour palette and brushstrokes, we will create our own Still Life paintings.
The exhibition ‘Anne Redpath and her Circle’ is open from 20th May -8th October 2023, Weds -Sun 11 -4pm at the Granary Gallery, YHA , Dewars Lane, Berwick-upon-Tweed,TD151ES. Entry is free.
The workshop will be held in the conference rooms on the mezzanine floor of the YHA building. Rachel will begin with a short tour of the Anne Redpath exhibition which is being held upstairs in the Granary Gallery. We will break for coffee which you can purchase at the YHA cafe on the ground floor, and Rachel will introduce the rest of the day. The morning session will end at 12.30 for lunch, and you can order food from the YHA cafe or bring a packed lunch. We resume at 1pm and the session ends at 3pm.
Redpath chose her favourite possessions to paint in her still lives. Please bring one thing that you cherish (e.g. crockery, material, book, vase) and we will compose, from your collective items, our own Still Life from which we will all paint. We will work to A3 size.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and more experienced students seeking to widen their skills. There are 10 places available.
Please bring the following materials: brushes, any gouache/acrylics/poster paint that you have, heavy card, paper or a small canvas, water pots, a palette for mixing colours.Easels are available for those who don’t want to work on a table.
