This talk by Dr. Pasquale Iannone, Senior Teaching Fellow at Edinburgh University, is produced in co-operation with Berwick Film Society. It is part of our Summer Film Series, but, unlike the other three lectures, it takes place on a Thursday. Members of the Society during the 2019/20 season are entitled to free entry to the full series available here.

Italian filmmaker Lina Wertmüller was one of the most daring and innovative directors of the post-war period in Italy and the first woman filmmaker to be nominated for the Best Director Oscar. Best known for her controversial 1975 film Seven Beauties, her work ignited debates on feminism, history and the limits of representation. This illustrated lecture will explore three of her collaborations with actor Giancarlo Giannini, The Seduction of Mimi, Love and Anarchy and Seven Beauties. Both Love and Anarchy and The Seduction of Mimi are available to view on Amazon Prime.

This lecture will be delivered via Zoom. If you haven’t used Zoom before, please go to www.zoom.us and look at the tutorials. An invitation will be emailed to you.

If you book this course online, we will hold your personal data in accordance with our privacy policy. If you do not wish us to hold your personal data, please book by post (see www.berwickea.co.uk) and do not supply an email address.
